Playschemes for Children and Young People
We run holiday playschemes from 10.00- 3.00 during most school holidays. These are inclusive. Disabled and non-Disabled children and young people have fun together on these schemes.
We have different playschemes for children aged 5-12 and young people aged 11-19.
Children’s playschemes are special because we also go on trips, and can have bigger activities at Markfield such as trampolining workshops and barbeques, or working with local artists on projects. Children at Markfield get to make decisions about what to do on playschemes by creating wish lists of activities and toys.
Young people’s holiday schemes have big projects, like working with local graffiti artists, DJing workshops, visits to the local skate park and trips out. We have summer BBQs, outdoor table tennis and den building. Young people get to design and run their own projects if they want to. For instance Aziah is currently setting up a DJ project and raising funding to buy an exciting DJ kit to use on playschemes.
Some of the places on playschemes are free. There is a waiting list for free places. We try to give places first to children who cannot go and play somewhere else, for example Disabled children who cannot find somewhere that can meet their needs, or children who have been excluded from other play places.
